The short version: Be respectful. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior in chat. You can Block or Report any player from the in-game chat — reports reach us and offenders can be removed. Play safely in the real world. By using the App you agree to these terms.
These Terms of Use and Community Guidelines ("Terms") govern your use of Foxes & Owls: Capture The Flag ("Foxes & Owls", "the App"). By downloading, accessing or using the App you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App.
Community Guidelines
Foxes & Owls includes in-game chat so teammates and players can coordinate. To keep it safe for everyone, you agree not to use the App — including chat, your display name or any other communication — to post or send content that is:
- harassing, bullying, threatening or hateful toward any person or group;
- sexually explicit, obscene or otherwise objectionable;
- defamatory, fraudulent or invasive of another person's privacy;
- illegal, or that promotes illegal or dangerous activity;
- spam, advertising or impersonation of another person.
We operate a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users.
Reporting and blocking
Every player has tools to control their experience, right in the in-game chat (tap ••• on a message, or press and hold it):
- Block — hide a player so you no longer see their messages. Blocking takes effect immediately and is saved on your device (manage it in Settings › Safety).
- Report — flag an offensive message to us. Reports are sent to the moderators for review, and the reported player is blocked for you automatically.
We review reports and act on objectionable content — which may include removing content and ejecting abusive users from play. To report a serious issue directly, email ctfgamesupport@gmail.com and we'll respond as quickly as we can.
Your name & identity
The App has no accounts or passwords — you simply choose a display name. You're responsible for the name you choose and for everything you send through the App. Don't impersonate others, and don't put personal information in chat or in your name.
Play safely in the real world
Foxes & Owls is a GPS game played outdoors. Stay aware of your surroundings. Watch where you run, obey all laws, respect private property, and don't trespass, play near traffic or in unsafe areas, or use the App while driving or cycling. You play at your own risk and are responsible for your own safety and that of the people around you. Splats, tags and every goodie in Foxes & Owls are virtual — never physically tackle, grab or throw things at other players.
Acceptable use
- Don't cheat, exploit bugs, spoof your location, or interfere with other players or the game servers.
- Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer or gain unauthorized access to the App or its servers.
- Games are invite-only — share invite links, QR codes and game codes only with people you want to play with.
The App is provided "as is"
The App is a free, independently made game provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any damages arising from your use of the App, including the conduct of other players or anything that happens while you're playing in the real world.
Donations
The game is free. An optional "Support the game" link opens an external donation page (Ko-fi). Donations are voluntary, aren't required to play, and don't unlock any features.
Termination
We may restrict or end access to the App or its servers for anyone who violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
